Choices and rights

Patients are entitled to have a say in their treatment and care. You have the right to choose your hospital, and you are entitled to an assessment of your condition within 30 working days. If serious illness is suspected, the assessment must be made sooner.

You have the right to be told whether you are entitled to necessary healthcare and of the deadline for receiving such care. If the waiting list guarantee is breached, you are entitled to make a complaint regarding your clinical assessment.

Your rights as a patient are regulated by the Patients' Rights Act.
